CHILDREN & GRIEF

When it comes to coping with grief, like adults, children will react to death individually. Children need answers to their questions that are honest and easy to understand. They too, benefit from having an outlet for their tears and emotions, and for their feelings to be accepted without criticism. It is important children are given clear explanations about what has happened and what is going to happen.

Explaining the process of a funeral or cremation, a hug and some quiet time with a parent or close relative can help a child who is feeling frightened and insecure. coping with grief is a normal emotion for everyone and will abate with time.
